The troop camped at Westmoreland State Park, a favorite of the boys, where they fished, hiked, and panned for fosils/shark teeth.
We joined the Scouts of the Washington, D.C. District for a weekend of learning about the heritage and history of our nation! This was done through the Citizenship in the Nation and the American Heritage Merit Badges. Scouts rotated through stations to complete requirements and practice the important skills needed to earn these two merit badges.
The boys hiked the Appalachian Trail!...at least for a little bit of it, at Sky Meadows State Park. It had beautiful vistas with even seeing Rosslyn in the distance. The campsite had a stream and coyotes were heard howling in the night.
